Tutor: LOUISE DELLAR (British Curriculum teacher)
Duration: 1,5 hours/2 weeks
When: Tuesdays 14:30-16:00
What: Afrikaans speaking children can benefit by starting with pre-GCSE English as early as possible. This prepares the child to confidently enter the subsequent GCSE English class.
Tutor: BEVERLEY BUCKLEY-WILLIAMSE (British Curriculum teacher)
Duration: 1 hour every 2 weeks
When: Tuesdays 14:30-15:30, 16:30-17:30
Wednesdays 15:30-16:30, 16:30-17:30
What: Textbooks do not explicitly state how to write a good British Curriculum piece and what is expected of a written piece from an examiner’s point of view or what Cambridge views as good writing and what not. Beverley with her many years of experience as a British Curriculum English teacher will be walking children through the process of building the writing skills needed to complete an exam successfully. Group classes are based on theory and group discussions. Writing assignments will be given at the end of each class.
Because of time constraints, Beverly will not be able to mark the assignments herself but Michelle will do this according to British Curriculum specification. You will receive feedback via e-mail. The cost is R180/month. This service is essential as children need regular feedback on the progress they are making with their writing skills.
To attend this class, children must have a firm grasp of communicating in English, a sound knowledge of writing paragraphs, using punctuation correctly and reading with understanding.
